THQ Nordic just dropped the remastered edition of KAIKO and Vigil Games' Darksiders, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, for the current generation consoles. While Xbox players get a free path to 4K chaos, PlayStation fans are facing a surcharge to upgrade their journey.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is now available for $29.99 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players can also upgrade from the previous-generation console edition of the game to the new-generation consoles.

While Xbox One owners can upgrade directly without having to pay any extra amount for the Warmastered Edition, the same can't be said for PS4 owners, as they would have to pay an extra $9.99 to upgrade.

Although THQ Nordic has not clarified the reason behind this, the pricing of the game on previous-generation consoles makes it somewhat clear.

For Xbox One owners who do not own the game yet, the price has been bumped from $19.99 to $29.99, without any additional cost for the upgraded version of the game.

As for PS4 owners, they can grab the game for just $19.99 and would need to pay an extra $9.99 for the PS5 upgrade. This essentially makes the game pricing equal for both, but paying the extra that price for a remastered version of a game that came out 16 years ago might not be for everyone.

As for the upgrades, the game now supports up to 4K video output resolution, improved texture and shadow rendering quality, an optimized frame rate, and all cutscenes have been re-rendered in high quality.

THQ Nordic is re-releasing the title to pave the way for a direct sequel.

Darksiders 4 is in Development

There is a new title coming for Darksiders fans to be excited about: Darksiders 4. Although not much has been revealed about the game, the trailer showed War allied with the other three Horsemen.

It is a third-person action-adventure game featuring fast-paced combat that blends melee action, fluid traversal, and supernatural abilities.

The game continues the story where the original Darksiders game left off, with War now seeking vengeance alongside the other Horsemen, whom players will be able to control and play as a team for the first time ever.

The game can also be played with friends via the online co-op feature, a notable addition since players can choose their favorite Horsemen to play with.
