WNBA stars are slamming NBA 2K over "silly" face scans that left some players unrecognizable. Although the WNBA has been part of the NBA 2K series since NBA 2K20, the player models have drawn criticism from several players.
This comes from an episode of the Post Moves podcast, where former Los Angeles Sparks player, Candace Parker and Indiana Fever's Aliyah Boston started the episode by reacting to an Instagram clip from Lexie Brown, who currently plays for the Seattle Storm.
Lexie Brown took to social media in 2023 to talk about how WNBA players had already been featured in the game for a few years. She then stated, "For whatever reason, this year they said, f*** the WNBA cuz look, look at my player."
After revealing her in-game face, she stated, "Just leave us out of the game if you don't, if you don't even want to try." Parker and Boston reacted to the clip on their podcast, holding back their laugh while also being shocked at how the player looked in-game.
But the face scan issue does not end there. Parker and Boston then looked at several WNBA stars' faces in the game, which had been sent in by a podcast listener, with Boston saying she was "scared" to look at them and that Brown's in-game interpretation was "silly."
The stars then reviewed several other specific scans and shared their reactions.
WNBA Players React To NBA 2K26 In-Game Faces
Parker and Boston looked at several in-game faces and tried to recognize them without revealing their names first.
But two moments stood out, as Boston was unable to recognize her own teammates. One of the teammates Boston saw first was Caitlin Clark, whom she thought was Bridget Carleton instead.
Boston was stunned by Clark's face, saying, "That's not my sister," and added, "It's giving Bridget." They also looked at Lexie Hull's face, with Boston not being able to recognize her either, stating, "I don't know who that is."
Boston and Parker also reacted to Boston's in-game face, with Boston in utter shock, stating, "That's me. Are we joking? I look like a little boy." She further stated, "Please get me off the screen."
While the series includes various new features, 2K has not officially responded to the backlash regarding the face scans, with players arguing the WNBA models were not accurately represented.
