With new games becoming available on platforms such as Epic Games Store and Steam, April is shaping up to be a great month for freebies. Epic Games Store has an incredible game available for you to grab right now.

Freebies are a regular occurrence on the Epic Games Store, as the rules and guidelines allow publishers to make games free without requiring permission from Epic itself.

From April 16–23, The Stone of Madness is available for free. The title is developed by the creators of Blasphemous, The Game Kitchen.

It is a real-time tactical stealth game set in an 18th-century Spanish monastery, which functions as both a prison and an asylum. Five prisoners try to solve the well-guarded monastery's mysteries while facing their phobias. Players also need to manage resources in this hand-painted, Goya-inspired world.

Not only that, Epic Games Store already has another game waiting on the sidelines, set to be available next week.

Epic Games Store: A Saga of Free Games

Epic will give away one of the best free games so far, Doomblade. It is a fast-paced 2D Metroidvania by Muro Studios and Iceberg Interactive.

Players take on the role of Gloom Girl, who wields a sentient blade and travels through seven eclectic biomes to defeat the Dread Lords. The game looks vivid with its hand-drawn art, even though it sometimes has a dark atmosphere.

The standout feature of the game is its combat, where the protagonist can use enemies as anchor points to kill other enemies, jumping from one to the next.

Epic Games Store keeps on giving us "epic games." Since the beginning of 2026, Epic Games Store has given away over a dozen games as weekly freebies so far including high-profile titles like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Ghostrunner, and Control.

Apart from weekly games, publishers also put their games up for free from time to time, bringing the tally even higher.
