Games continue to come and top Twitch's most-played title charts every now and then. But Minecraft continues to be an evergreen game, consistently among the most watched and most streamed games on the popular live streaming platform.

And the TwitchCon Europe 2026's special edition Minecraft Live event in Rotterdam served several hyped-up announcements for Minecraft fans to look forward to this year.

The Chaos Cubed Update

Minecraft fans were treated to a deeper dive into the upcoming Chaos Cubed drop. This will feature a new mob, the sulfur cube, which can absorb blocks and adopt the properties of what it absorbs.

If the sulfur cube mob consumes ice, it will start slipping and sliding across the biome. This is an exciting new addition as now Minecraft will have a mob type that can mimic what it consumes, and users must adapt accordingly.

Future Drops - Biomes and Contrasts

Mojang revealed that the third drop of 2026 will add the dappled forest biome, with abandoned camps and poplar trees that give it a distinct look. More revelations about the upcoming fall update will arrive later.

But we already know we will be treated to the burnished hues and colorful patterns in this biome, along with a new mob that could arrive soon in the main Minecraft game, thanks to Hallmark's Christmas Ornament reveal.

Minecraft Dungeons II - A New Enemy

While Minecraft Dungeons II is a much-anticipated drop, Mojang revealed a new addition, The Twisted Warden.

It is an enemy that is a corrupted version of the Warden we see in the world of Minecraft, which will go well with the dark theme of Minecraft Dungeons II.

While The Twisted Warden will move a little slower than usual bosses or enemies, it will be extremely powerful and a new type of threat for the users.

With the Dungeons II drop, LEGO will also come out with a Dungeons II LEGO set, along with an upcoming Minecraft Chicken Mounts add-on, which will be available in the Minecraft Marketplace.

A Minecraft Movie Squared - The Minecraft Sequel

Fans were also treated to the announcement of the revelation of a sequel to the mega-successful Minecraft movie. The movie will be named 'A Minecraft Movie Squared', and will feature a new addition, with Kirsten Dunst joining the cast as Alex, one of the default Minecraft characters.

Jack Black and Jason Momoa will return in their roles. So will Matt Berry in a much larger role, although details of his role or character have not been revealed yet. There is speculation that Matt Berry could take up the role of Herobrine, a myth in the Minecraft lore.

The sequel will provide a more direct connection to the Minecraft lore, and should cater again to the loyal Minecraft enthusiasts, with the movie set to release in July, 2027.
