You did it. The Ender Dragon is down, the credits rolled, and you’re back in your world wondering… what next? Turns out, beating the “final boss” of Minecraft is just the warm-up. The real game kicks in after that fight. Here are 10 actually useful things you can do next.

1. Explore End Cities and Get Elytra

An End gateway portal opens to the outer islands once the dragon is gone. You can then start searching for End cities by using an ender pearl to teleport. This is where you can find valuable loot, including enchanted gear and shulker shells. However, the main target is the End ship, where you’ll find the Elytra, which allows you to glide and drastically improves travel.

2. Build an Enderman XP Farm

The End dimension is filled with Endermen, making it ideal for XP farming. You can build a simple platform using an Endermite to attract and trap them. This setup gives massive experience quickly for enchanting tools and armor. It also provides a steady supply of Ender Pearls.

3. Upgrade to Netherite Gear

Netherite is one of the most important materials in Minecraft. Not only is it the strongest in the game, but it also upgrades diamond gear. So, you can mine ancient debris in the Nether, smelt it into scraps, and combine it with gold to craft Netherite ingots. Then use a smithing table with templates to upgrade your armor and tools.

4. Build Advanced Farms

As there is no survival pressure anymore, your focus should be on automation. Create farms for iron, crops, mobs, slime, or villagers. In order to automate resource collection, you can set up redstone, water systems, and spawning mechanics.

5. Create a Beacon Setup

After defeating the Ender Dragon, knock down the Wither to obtain a Nether Star and craft a beacon. Then build a pyramid using iron, gold, diamond, or emerald blocks beneath it. This way, you will have made a fully powered beacon, which gives speed, strength, regeneration, or haste.

6. Respawn and Fight the Ender Dragon Again

If you want to defeat the Ender Dragon once again, then follow these steps. Place four End crystals on the exit portal to respawn the dragon. This way, you can farm experience and collect Dragon's Breath. The more times you defeat the dragon, the more End gateway portals you collect. This means more new End islands and more loot.

7. Expand and Upgrade Your Base

The dragon is gone, removing the need for temporary shelter. Now build a permanent base. Add storage systems, enchanting setups, farms, and decorative designs. It can also contain different block palettes and redstone systems for automation.

8. Fight the Wither

The Wither is another major boss in Minecraft. Summon it using soul sand or soul soil and three Wither Skeleton skulls. The fight is difficult due to explosive attacks and the wither effect. Defeating it rewards a Nether Star.

9. Explore Mods, Datapacks, or Multiplayer

If you are bored with the vanilla gameplay, then try using mods or datapacks. With these, you can add new biomes, mechanics, items, or complete gameplay overhauls. You can also join multiplayer servers or Realms to play with others. Try taking part in collaborative builds as well.

10. Build Large-Scale Projects and Redstone Machines

Utilize your post-game freedom to construct large-scale projects like cities or complex redstone networks. You can also design redstone contraptions such as automatic storage systems, farms, or transportation networks.

Loot and Future Updates

The End contains exclusive loot that fundamentally changes how you interact with the game world. Elytra may help you in the post-game with the gliding mechanic, but there's more.

Shulker shells can be used to create portable chests that do not lose items when broken. Collect Dragon Breath in glass bottles during the dragon battle to use them as an ingredient for lingering potions. Chorus Fruit can be used for crafting and also introduces a unique teleportation effect.

End Rods are a compact source of light you can carry. The most exclusive and one-time item, however, that you can get in the End after defeating the dragon is the Dragon Egg.

Mining the egg does not work. To get it as an item in your inventory, either use the piston method, where you place a piston facing the egg and activate it using a lever (make sure the next block is empty for the egg to drop), or the torch method, where you dig under the block holding the egg, place a torch under it, and break the block. The egg falls onto the torch and drops as an item.

There is no use for the Dragon Egg other than being a trophy of your in-game achievement. This could change however, with the most requested 'End update' that enthusiasts talk about online, making the End feel less limited.
