Roblox has had the sort of influence on gaming that platforms seldom have. Launched all the way back on September 1, 2006, it was in the first place created to let players run their imaginations wild. Today, the once-simple physics simulator has become one of the biggest multiplayer universes.
The best part about Roblox is the amount of accessibility it gives to the gaming community. It gave everyday gamers the tools to become actual developers. And ended up building a massive platform where countless creators and players build their own worlds from scratch.
But have you wondered where it all started? Before the massive Adopt Me empires and fancy roleplaying servers, there were some truly classic experiences. Here are the 10 oldest Roblox games ever created.
10. Chaos Canyon
Chaos Canyon was officially created by Roblox around 2006-2007. It's a classic multidirectional BrickBattle shooter where players just go all out in a free-for-all. Unfortunately, however, the game has not been playable since 2017.
9. Base Wars FPS
It was launched on April 24, 2007, by Roblox. Base Wars FPS was revolutionary in its own right for being one of the platform's first-ever class-based shooters. You could pick roles like Sniper or Support. The best part? It’s uncopylocked, meaning it’s technically still playable if you copy it.
8. Classic: Crossroads
Classic: Crossroads is well-known in the community. Created by John Shedletsky for Roblox in 2006, it’s probably the most iconic BrickBattle map ever.

Millions of players have jumped into this chaotic arena. Amazingly, it survived the 2017 classic games shutdown, got a graphics update, and is still officially playable today.
7. Santa's Winter Stronghold
Dropping just before the holidays on December 19, 2006, Santa's Winter Stronghold is considered the first-ever Christmas game by Roblox.
You either played as Santa with jet boots or an elf, fighting for points. It’s no longer playable, but it definitely set the standard for future holiday events.
6. Air Base Sector 128A
Air Base Sector 128A wasn’t really a traditional game. Created by 'tie it up' on November 29, 2006, it was more of a cool showcase map featuring watchtowers and cannons. It was even featured in Roblox's very first blog. Unfortunately, this classic base is no longer playable.
5. Experience Gravity
Experience Gravity is exactly what it sounds like. Created by 'amanda' on November 21, 2006, you literally just step off a baseplate to fall into space. It sounds super basic, but it’s still playable today and boasts over five million visits thanks to its hilarious and rare badges.
4. Sunset Plain
Created by user 'Schwaabo' on November 15, 2006, Sunset Plain was one of the earliest BrickBattle games available. Roblox actually promoted it in their very first Developer's Journal. The original version isn't playable anymore, but fans have managed to revive it through nostalgia zone places if you look around.
3. Yorick's Resting Place
This one was created on October 21, 2006, under the name 'Yorick' by a future admin. It eventually became Roblox’s first official Halloween event in 2008!
The ones who could solve the riddles in-game and win the special Riddling Skull hat use it as a huge rare flex. And that's because, as of today, one cannot play the game anymore, as it's no longer officially playable.
2. Forest of Desolation
Also known as Abyss’s Place, Forest of Desolation dropped on August 20, 2006. Created by user 'Abyss', it was a super atmospheric map with autumn trees and a crumbling tower. It wasn't a massive hit and isn't functional anymore, but it proved early users could build truly beautiful environments.
1. Classic: Rocket Arena
Last but certainly not least: Classic: Rocket Arena. It was created directly by Roblox way back on January 26, 2006, during the beta phase. This free-for-all fighting arena literally inspired countless games afterwards. Sadly, it was permanently shut down in 2017, but its massive legacy will honestly live on forever.
Which one of these titles would you want to revisit and play? Let us know in the comments below.
