10 Indie Games Dominating the Player Charts on Steam Right Now

It has been a strong year for indie games, with several titles climbing to the top of Steam's charts.

From Slay the Spire II surpassing studio-backed projects like Marathon to classics such as Rust that still draw players every day, indie titles are now a major part of the modern gaming industry.

Indie Games Pulling Massive Player Numbers on Steam

Here is the list of indie titles currently leading Steam's player charts.

1. Slay the Spire 2 – Sequel to the hit roguelike deck‑builder game, it fuses card-based gameplay with procedural runs. It currently has more than 275,000 concurrent players and a peak exceeding 574,000 players, making it the indie chart leader. 

2. Bongo Cat – A fun music-based game where a cute animated cat syncs music to the player's keyboard and mouse inputs. Steam charts show 126,692 players currently, a 24-hour peak of 163,925 and its all-time peak of 194,508 players.

3. Rust – The game is a survival multiplayer title, where players need to face environmental hazards, wild animals, and other players. Due to its unpredictable online interactions, the title currently sees a 24-hour peak of 189,624, and an all-time peak of 262,284 players.

4. Stardew Valley – A relaxing farming and life simulator where players build farms, explore caves, and interact with a small-town community. It has racked 45,541 current players and an all-time peak of 236,614 players.

5. Terraria – A sandbox adventure game blending exploration, crafting, and combat. Steam shows 35,011 concurrent players, a 24-hour peak of 76,930, and an impressive all-time peak of 489,886 players.

6. Geometry Dash – A fast‑paced rhythm platformer game where players guide an icon through obstacle-filled levels synced with music. The game managed to maintain its popularity with a 24-hour peak of 106,599, and an all-time peak of 109,993 players. 

7. Valheim – One of the most popular indie games on Steam, this survival exploration game is inspired by Norse mythology. It allows players to gather resources, build settlements, and defeat powerful bosses. It currently has 29,128 players, with an all-time peak of 502,387 players.

8. Euro Truck Simulator 2 – A truck driving simulation game where players get to deliver cargo across Europe. The game allows truck and trailer customization, fleet expansion, and building a logistics company. The current player base is 43,766 with an all-time peak of 73,887.

9. Garry's Mod – This is a sandbox physics game from 2006. It allows players to experiment, build contraptions, and make their own game modes using various assets. The Steam charts currently list 28,234 players and an all-time peak of 73,863.

10. Palworld – This open-world creature collection game allows players to capture “Pals” and use them for base building, combat, and exploration. The game currently sees a 24-hour peak of 48,605, and an impressive all-time peak of 2,101,867 players.
