The game is grindless and focuses on team building and competitiveness, with players getting infinite Rare Candies in Pokémon Centers.

8. Pokémon Crossroads

Imagine you can travel and play not only in a single region, but hop between three regions altogether. Pokémon Crossroads does just that, by seamlessly merging the Hoenn, Kanto, and Johto regions into one massive, professional world. But Johto is still under development.

It features 16 gym badge challenges, and you get to experience narratives of both FireRed and Emerald. Also, it includes a multi-region AreaNav and modernized battle mechanics.

7. Pokémon Shadow Realm Version

This features fractured timelines and the return of the Shadow Pokémon mechanic from the GameCube era. Similar to Crossroads, players get to explore Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, alongside the mysterious Shadow Realm dimension.

You will find corrupted Pokémon, and one to nine generations of Pokémon in a HeartGold and SoulSilver-style interface. It includes Dex Nav, featuring dynamic navigation with no HMs.

6. Pokémon Emerald Azure

This upscaled competitive ROM hack is yet to be completed, but it lets you get your hands on nine generations of Pokémon, along with a brand-new story and locations.

The game features 116 variant forms, nine new eeveelutions, and 26 new Mega Evolutions. It also has a level cap system, scaling NPC battles, and full EV/IV control.

5. Pokémon: A Hollow Woods

This is a fully completed fan game made by competitive Pokémon players. It includes 93 regional forms, custom Mega Evolutions, and Super Trainers that will battle you only if you defeat all the trainers of that specific route.

Players can tackle 65 side quests and find secret spots. The in-game time cycle helps you find Pokémon that are otherwise not available at any part of the day. With two battle facilities and a custom soundtrack, you are bound to have fun in this one.

4. Pokémon Little League

Pokémon Little League focuses on battling. So team building and managing resources play an important part here. The game has elements of a rogue-like genre, with gyms put in a random order, and the creator has handcrafted teams for each iteration.

3. Pokémon Platinum Kaizo

The Kaizo series is known for its hard difficulty, and the recent update refines that experience by fixing critical bugs. Just like Radical Red, the game is fully documented, so you can plan your counters for every boss.

This is a continuation of the Emerald Kaizo and is one of the hardest Sinnoh region experiences.

2. Pokémon Vanta Black

This comes as a revamp of Pokémon Black, and it opens a string of imagination in the Unova region, with altered Pokémon moves and stats. It also has new Unova-adjacent forms of Pokémon from the sequels. There are new story events for the players to explore as well.

This newly made game includes quality-of-life updates and a curated regional Pokédex, with Pokémon having custom move sets and field effects to make the gameplay more dynamic.
