Sony's State of Play already promises a deep dive into the much-hyped upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game and will likely include more hardware-related announcements and updates about other games.

Day of the Devs begins immediately after the Opening Showcase ends and is a celebration of new titles and gameplay reveals as well. However, this non-profit initiative focuses on indie titles and smaller studios, which don't get the same screen time because of the other events.

XBOX Games Showcase is similar to Sony's State of Play event, with Microsoft teasing new titles, announcements, updates about games included in Game Pass, and the future outlook of certain roadmaps.

The PC Gaming Show does the same for games releasing on the platform. Meanwhile, the Future Games Show Summer Showcase is a more holistic event encompassing all of the above.

These showcases draw a huge digital crowd, mainly because of the popularity of the three platforms: PlayStation, XBOX, and PC. Summer Game Fest 2025 generated over 50 million livestream views worldwide and more than 3 million concurrent viewers, according to Keighley.

Meanwhile, Day of the Devs has become a popular event because of the gaming audience's recent focus on finding niche games to enjoy.
