Despite Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders remaining widely available through official channels, some buyers are already paying above retail price on eBay.
Recently completed eBay listings show that scalpers have successfully flipped the Standard and Ultimate Edition titles, with the latter selling for over $100.
The Standard Edition is priced at $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition is available for $99.99. The Standard Edition has been sold on eBay at a premium of $13.23, while the Ultimate Edition has seen scalpers flip the pre-order for a premium of $1.20, according to GameRant.

Some listings have priced the Standard Edition at almost double the price, although the listing has not been completed.
Scalping has become a major issue in the gaming industry, with The Pokémon Company also issuing several website upgrades, adding security checks, and implementing protocols for physical stores to avoid scalping and allow more retail availability for core consumers.
Trying to flip GTA VI is particularly surprising because Standard and Ultimate Edition pre-orders remain widely available through official channels, with no shortage of copies.
Even the Standard Edition's physical version contains only a download code rather than a disc, according to GameRant.
Why Does GTA VI Not Have Physical Copies?
Rockstar Games has made this calculated move after careful deliberation over the harmful effects of physical copies on releases as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Firstly, the file sizes of modern games are too large to be contained on discs. Another important factor is avoiding pre-launch leaks.
Physical discs must be sent to warehouses and distributors weeks in advance, increasing the risk of early leaks. They also take up space, which is why many publishers are shifting toward digital downloads and game codes instead.
At the moment, Rockstar Games has confirmed a physical version of the Standard Edition. However, the version will only contain a digital code inside the box, and it remains to be seen whether the publisher will release a more detailed physical version before or after launch.
Do you think GTA VI pre-order scalping is a real problem, or are buyers creating the demand themselves? Tell us in the comments.
