7 Video Games releasing in 2027 that excite us [Opinion]

While the remainder of 2026 has a great catalog, including Grand Theft Auto VI, these 7 games releasing in 2027 should entice you even more.

Some games already have a definite release window declared. However, others have confirmed 2027 as the year of release, with the rest heavily dependent on the pace of development.

While a lot of games will release in 2027, like every year, these 7 titles are meant to excite us because of unique storytelling, gameplay features, and nostalgic reasons.

We are only considering titles that have a confirmed 2027 release window so far.

Fable (February 23, 2027)

The new Fable title was supposed to release in 2026, but has been pushed back to avoid a clash with GTA VI. This Xbox first-party game has a confirmed release date and will be available on PC and PlayStation as well.

Playground Games is already known for the Forza Horizon series, and the initial teasers have already raised hope.

Fable's teaser has presented a unique selling point in its Living Civilization feature and extensive character customization.

Resident Evil: Veronica (2027)

Revealed during the Summer Game Fest, this Resident Evil: Veronica remake will be built in Capcom's RE Engine, modernizing the 2000 hit title with modern-era visuals and gameplay.

The storyline will mostly be the same, another effort to draw new gamers towards storied franchises.

Fans have been asking for a reboot, and Capcom's RE Engine only means we are going to be treated to a spectacle.

Pokemon Winds and Waves (2027)

Pokemon games will enter the Generation 10 world, with the 2027 release of Pokemon Winds and Waves. These are meant to be Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives.

The new South-East Asia-inspired open world will be an extension of the idea we saw in the Scarlet and Violet series.

Since this is Generation 10, the starter Pokemon will be Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua, including an entirely new Pokedex as the game enters the modern storyline.

Exodus (Early 2027)

Safe to say, the majority of the hype is because of Archetype Entertainment's involvement. The studio has already produced iconic RPGs such as Mass Effect and Halo.

Matthew McConaughey's involvement in the project, portraying the character C.C. Orlev, a central figure in the overall storyline and narration, is a huge pull for Exodus.

The game's time-dilation mechanism, in which you could be a traveler for mere days while centuries might pass for your civilization, is unique. This makes each mission and decision matter in the long scheme of things.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond (Spring 2027)

A new realm, a new storyline, and new enemies aren't the only positives about this Toys for Bob title in the Spyro franchise.

Spyro's flight mechanism, true dragon flight, has been upgraded, wherein users will now be able to do much more than just glide at times.

The title's return is much-awaited by the fans, ending a 20-year wait.

Final Fantasy VII: Revelation (Spring 2027)

A lot of buzz surrounds Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the finale of this trilogy, with many speculating how the storyline will culminate and be connected to the entire Final Fantasy timeline.

And Square Enix is cashing in on this hype, making this game the first title in the trilogy to be released simultaneously across all major platforms.

The new Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear (FITS) system allows hyper-customization of combat. The game will also bear the largest world in the trilogy's history, hoping to overload users with nostalgia.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (February 12, 2027)

Amazon Game Studios is hoping to use the storied Tomb Raider franchise to showcase early marketability, and the Legacy of Atlantis remake will debut Lara Croft in the modern Unreal 5 Engine.

Again, Legacy of Atlantis will provide added content by turning classic locations into vast explorable areas for users, selling nostalgia packaged with stunning visuals and refined combat.

Crystal Dynamics has been entrusted with the major task again, alongside Flying Wild Hog, a studio known for the Shadow Warrior series and experienced in fast-paced action and franchise reboots.
