Unlike the physical game, Pokémon TCG Pocket is heavily geared towards the pure thrill of ripping open digital Pokémon packs. Naturally, the ultimate goal for most players is to flex the craziest,hardest-to-pull chase cards. But some cards are rarer than others.
So, how does rarity actually work here? It starts pretty simply with common and uncommon diamond symbols at the bottom of the card. But the real hype begins once you hit the "Star" rarities, which cover full arts and shiny versions. The absolute peak of this system, however, is the legendary Gold Crown rarity.
Honestly, Gold Crown cards are the ultimate status symbols in the game right now. These are gorgeous gold-plated variants of popular EX cards that have the lowest pull rates by far in-game. You generally have way less than a zero point one percent chance of spotting one of these golden thingies popping up in a standard pack slot.
It gets even trickier because pull rates change depending on the set's size. For instance, the Charizard EX Gold Crown from the massive Genetic Apex packs has a notoriously low drop rate. Meanwhile, the Mew EX from the smaller Mythical Island set actually has slightly better odds since the overall card pool is smaller.
So, here are some of the rarest pulls you can get in the game right now:
The Gold Crown Cards
| Card Name | Card Number | Pack/Set | Pull Rate (4th Slot) | Pull Rate (5th Slot) | Pull Rate (God Pack) | Crafting Cost |
| Charizard EX | A1 284 | Genetic Apex | 0.01% | 0.05% | 5.26% | 2,500 Pack Points |
| Pikachu EX | A1 285 | Genetic Apex | 0.01% | 0.05% | 5.26% | 2,500 Pack Points |
| Mewtwo EX | A1 286 | Genetic Apex | 0.01% | 0.05% | 5.26% | 2,500 Pack Points |
| Palkia EX | A2 207 | Space-Time Smackdown | 0.02% | 0.08% | 3.85% | 2,500 Pack Points |
| Lugia EX | A4 241 | Wisdom of Sea and Sky | 0.02% | 0.08% | 2.56% | 2,500 Pack Points |
Immersive Cards
Next up are the Three-Star Immersive cards. While not quite as rare as Gold Crowns, these are arguably the coolest cards in the game. When you tap on them, a sick cinematic animation actually pulls you right into the crazy artwork. Hence the name, Immersive cards. They sit right below the Gold Crown tier but still require some serious luck to pull.
| Card Name | Card Number | Pack/Set | Drop Rate / Condition | Crafting Cost |
| Charizard ex | A1 280 | Charizard Pack only | 0.222% (4th Slot) / 0.888% (5th Slot) / 5% in a God pack | 1,500 Pack Points |
| Pikachu ex | A1 281 | Pikachu Pack only | 0.222% (4th Slot) / 0.888% (5th Slot) / 5% in a God pack | 1,500 Pack Points |
| Mewtwo ex | A1 282 | MewTwo Pack only | 0.222% (4th Slot) / 0.888% (5th Slot) / 5% in a God pack | 1,500 Pack Points |
| Mew | A1 283 | Secret Card | Unlock at least one variant of the first 150 Genetic Apex Pokémon (excluding promos) | Cannot be crafted |
| Palkia ex | A2 204 | Palkia Pack only | 0.222% (4th Slot) / 0.888% (5th Slot) / 3.85% in a God pack | 1,500 Pack Points |
How To Get Them
Getting these rare cards mostly comes down to pure luck while opening booster packs. Your best bet is randomly hitting a "God Pack," which has a super low 0.05 percent chance of appearing. If you get one, the pack only gives out rare cards, massively boosting your odds for a Crown or Immersive pull.
If your luck is terrible, you can always rely on the game's pity system. Every pack you open gives you Pack Points. You can straight up buy Immersive cards for 1,500 points, or save up 2,500 points for a Gold Crown. It takes forever, but it guarantees you will eventually get your favorite chase card.
But apart from that, there's not really any choice but to keep opening up as many packs as you can. So, which is the rarest Pokémon TCG Pocket card in your collection? Let us know in the comments below.
