Only Two Games Will Challenge GTA VI By Releasing in November 2026

While most publishers are steering clear of Grand Theft Auto VI's November release window, Atari is doubling down with two releases of its own.

The company is set to release Pipeworks' Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered and Digital Eclipse's Barbie Rewind ahead of GTA VI's November 19 release.

The 2002 Godzilla remaster will be released on November 3 for PC, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.

Barbie Rewind will launch on November 12, a full week ahead of GTA VI, for the same platforms as the Godzilla remaster. Both games are priced at around $29.99, although the Nintendo Switch version of Godzilla costs $39.99, still far below the rumored price of GTA VI.

The kaiju fighter became a cult hit for letting players control Godzilla characters in a destructible world, and the remaster aims to attract both returning fans and newcomers with enhanced visuals and online multiplayer.

Fans will also be expecting Pipeworks to expand the roster of monsters available in the game.

The other game, Barbie Rewind, is the exact opposite in terms of vibes. Barbie Rewind includes classic Barbie titles and adds the ability to build a virtual Dreamhouse and customize it with materials and furniture of choice.

Barbie Rewind is a more relaxing game tailored to the core Barbie audience. Similarly, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered also caters to hardcore Godzilla enthusiasts.

How Can These Games Survive the GTA-calypse?

Many video game publishers have adjusted their release schedules in response to GTA VI's upcoming arrival.

XBOX's decision to move Fable to early 2027 from its previously expected 2026 window has fueled speculation that publishers are seeking to avoid competing directly with GTA VI.

However, Atari may have made a wise move. Not only does a November release attract attention because it clashes with GTA VI's release window, but the two games also cater to niche, loyal audiences built around cult franchises.

Barbie Rewind is a homage to the Barbie universe and will find a market among Barbie fans who want to play the 16 classic Barbie games.

Meanwhile, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is bringing back a bona fide hit with modern graphics. Both games are designed to deliver nostalgia to loyal fans, and neither title shares a significant audience with GTA VI.
