We already have a list of 7 exciting video game titles with a confirmed release window in 2027.
However, there are video games with a confirmed or tentative release next year that players are looking forward to.
Some of these games are continuations of fabled franchises like The Witcher and State of Decay. Others, like Persona 4 Revival, are much-awaited reboots.
Then there is the return of Virtua Fighter by SEGA, which makes the lineup compelling for a wide variety of reasons.
Let's look at why these 9 video games with a confirmed or tentative 2027 release are creating so much hype.
The Witcher 4 (CD Projekt Red)

The Witcher 4 is deep into development. And while a 2026 release has been ruled out, people are hoping for a late 2027 release window here.
The game will feature the beginning of a new storyline, with Ciri the new protagonist.
Built on the Unreal 5 Engine, The Witcher 4 promises to deliver a visual experience like never before to support the new story.
CD Projekt Red has already shown they are fast in adapting after the almost impossible-looking recovery job with Cyberpunk 2077.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (Naughty Dog)
Naughty Dog's first new IP in over a decade demands excitement, especially because of the premise of a new Naughty Dog open-world universe, this time embedded in science fiction.
Fans are hoping Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a limited version of No Man's Sky, but with the gripping storytelling Naughty Dog games usually have.
This has the potential to become the next big PlayStation hit, and even a franchise, judging by how Naughty Dog usually operates.
State of Decay 3 (Undead Labs)
State of Decay 3 promises to introduce a hivemind-like survival theme to the zombie universe, with players now having to think of survival as a community rather than their individual selves.
The permadeath system's return means every exploration, every decision, and every survivor is going to matter in this shared world co-op that is supposed to be one of the largest open worlds created in this genre.
This is billed as the most ambitious State of Decay title, and perhaps zombie survival game to date. And rightly so.
The Wolf Among Us 2 (Telltale Games)
This much-awaited noir mystery sequel is set in the same timeline, a few months after the original The Wolf Among Us title. The Fables comics universe returns after more than a decade with this adaptation.
However, the delay can be a blessing, with the game now a medley of brilliant storytelling, unique gameplay, new-age visuals, and mechanisms.
One of Telltale's highest-rated games makes a return, and we are all here to experience the belligerent world of crime and investigation, with the original characters also making a return.
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN (Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio)
Part of the first flurry of games that will release in 2027, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN is a brand-new IP from the creators of the Yakuza universe, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio.
The first thing to look forward to is the world inspired by 1940s-style Japanese culture, with RGG Studio forging a fine balance between combat and detective investigation to create another successful formula.
Fans are hoping STRANGER THAN HEAVEN delivers memorable character storylines like the Yakuza franchise, while providing a new gaming experience.
Clockwork Revolution (inXile Entertainment)

RPG veteran Brian Fargo brings forth a unique premise where time can be manipulated, and time travel can result in far-reaching consequences way beyond what we imagine.
This first-party XBOX title will only be released on PC apart from XBOX consoles.
This Victorian feel to the entire world with the time travel mechanism and futuristic technology is a nice blend that sets the game up really well.
Persona 4 Revival (ATLUS)
A rebuild of Persona 4 Golden preserving the storyline of the original while combining it with modern gameplay, stunning visuals, enhanced turn-based combat, and advanced playthrough scenes.
The Social Link system in Persona 4 Revival is unique, with each conversation and each interaction, along with your relationships with individuals, affecting your skills and character.
Fans are confident of ATLUS' ability to deliver based on their work with Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5.
Chrono Odyssey (Chrono Studio)

Another early 2027 release, Chrono Odyssey is an ambitious MMORPG project with time manipulation at its core.
You can rewind, stop, and even manipulate time and use it to your advantage during combat and exploration.
Fans are quite hyped because of Chrono Studio's feedback-first approach, which even saw the developers delay the release window to Q1 of 2027 to incorporate beta feedback.
Virtua Fighter: Crossroads (RGG Studio)
Another RGG Studio product, the Virtua Fighter series is set to return to our gaming screens and gaming platforms with Virtua Fighter: Crossroads.
The game is set to revolve around storytelling, expanding the Virtua Fighter lore, and honestly has an all-star writing team featuring David Hayter and Brad Kane.
