New Fan-Made Tool Turns Any Image Into Tomodachi Life Pixel Art Instantly

A new tool is coming in handy for players in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, letting them turn a real-life image into pixelated art.

The tool, called "Living the Grid," was developed by Reddit user ClementGzl. Currently, the game has a grid-based creation tool called the Palette House, which players must use to create pixel art, but they have to draw the image themselves. This often resulted in art that isn't as desirable as players thought.

But this tool changes things. ClementGzl stated in a Reddit post, "I really wanted to get into pixel art in the game but didn't find satisfactory tools to help, so I made my own."

The tool uses the game's built-in color palette and lets users upload any image they like. It can also extract the colors from the image and add them to the Palette House. Once the tool pixelates the image, players can visit the Palette House to fill in the pixels.

It is less time-consuming than creating a raw portrayal, as it gives users a layout of the image they want in the game. Once players complete the image in Palette House, it can be used anywhere custom patterns are allowed, such as Treasures, house interiors/exteriors, clothing, etc.

Also, the paint-by-numbers option lets users select the brush size for a more intricate, detailed pixel art. ClementGzl further stated, "300 custom clothing designs, 100 for every other category. Go wild on clothes; be picky everywhere else."

Tools like this address a gap in the game's built-in creation options, but the game lacks a key feature.

Tomodachi Life Lacks Online Play

One feature missing is the ability to play the game with friends or online via multiplayer. Despite the game being a life-simulation building game, players can't build or go to other islands.

The game only supports limited local offline multiplayer, focused on trading and item sharing. Similar games on the Nintendo Switch 2, like Animal Crossing or Pokémon Pokopia, do have multiplayer modes.

In this circumstance, the tool serves as a co-op feature in itself, as users can download the pixel art it creates and share it with friends. This will allow others to create the same image for their island.

Living the Grid is sure to get usage from players, especially with the ability to create custom patterns and place them all over their island.
