New Details About Unannounced Co-Op Witcher Game Surface

The Witcher franchise may be heading into unfamiliar territory. A new report suggests CD Projekt Red is working on an unannounced project that could bring co-op multiplayer gameplay to the series.

According to the exclusive report by MP1st, the game is reportedly a free-to-play ARPG for PC and mobile devices set in the year 1230, when Geralt was still a young Witcher.

Considering it'll be a co-op multiplayer game, fans can expect features such as their own customizable character, so they may be able to change things like appearance, gender, and more.

Furthermore, other ARPG elements can also be expected. These would include common combat features such as parrying, blocking, dodging, and executions. A new system will reward players for well-timed moves, just like other ARPGs.

The report suggests that players' quests will include contracts to eliminate monsters in rich environments ranging from dark forests to villages.

It also suggests that Scopely may be involved with CD Projekt Red for publishing the game. The publisher announced a partnership with the mobile studio back in March 2025. The development studio, however, remains unknown as of right now.

The publisher last discussed the studio in an earnings briefing in March 2026.

This unannounced project is just one of the many reportedly in development by CD Projekt Red. The developer announced a new expansion named Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3, coming in 2027.

A Change in the Witcher Series

If the reports are true, this would be the first time that fans get to see a multiplayer live-service Witcher title on PC. This is a major shift from CD Projekt Red, which could be indicative of industry trends.

The Witcher games have famously been single-player. However, the developer isn't afraid of taking risks or expanding the IP. Games like The Witcher Adventure, a tabletop board game, make this ever so clear.

There's also the Witcher card game known as Gwent, which is free-to-play. This shows that the makers of the franchise aren't afraid of experimental titles.

The newly leaked game may be an experiment in similar terms. Fan-made mods have previously been the only way players could truly enjoy a multiplayer Witcher game.

However, if the aforementioned game is real, then fans may receive not one but two multiplayer titles in the series. Yet another game, codenamed Sirius, was also confirmed by CD Projekt Red.

It's supposedly a multiplayer experience that also has a single-player mode. Sirius is reportedly a spin-off of the original games. More details are awaited on both titles.
