MrBeast Under Fire Over View-Buying Claims After 1.45B Report

Content creator Rosanna Pansino is questioning the 1.45 billion reach claimed for MrBeast’s company. After a post showed that MrBeast's content reached 1.45 billion unique viewers, it didn't sit well with Rosanna Pansino.

Pansino publicly questioned the authenticity of these figures on X and questioned whether the tally included views generated via paid promotions or whether they were actually a result of organic engagement.

She claimed that MrBeast used YouTube’s Promote feature, which helps creators reach wider distribution.

In another tweet, she wrote, "MrBeasts long form views are down by about 50% from last year, AND he ran his long-form and short-form videos as ads 428 times last year alone (buying views). He is using YouTube's 'Promote' feature, where you put in money, and you get views/subs. This is how you buy views on YouTube, following their rules."

Now, the policy isn't strange. YouTube outlines it clearly on their website.

"Promote on YouTube is a growth tool that puts the power in the creator’s hands. On top of regular channel growth and organic discovery, Promote is an easy way to set up YouTube Ads campaigns to get your videos and Shorts in front of new audiences – helping you grow your channel and business."

Essentially, the promotion option is a simplified version of the Google Ads model. Instead of complex strategies, this allows you to reach a targeted audience and expand your reach.

But It's Not The Only Strategy MrBeast Uses

Interestingly, the same idea was brought up a few years ago on the YouTubers Reddit forum, and when members discussed the idea, they revealed it destroys the channel's natural growth. So, considering MrBeast's consistent viewership, he might just be using a mix of running his videos as ads and his content.

For now, neither Jeff Housenbold nor MrBeast has commented on her claims.

As per Donaldson, the reason behind his viewership number is simple, as he revealed back in November.

"We usually have pretty original ideas. People are like, 'Oh, this is cool, original, far-out content,' and they gravitate towards it...I'm just really obsessed with the quality of my videos and do everything in my power to make it as good as possible. It's kind of what I obsessed over most of my life. People can tell the effort we put into them."
