MrBeast and millions of viewers watched history unfold in real time as his subscriber count crossed the 500 million mark during a live stream. The milestone makes Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson the first YouTuber to reach the figure and comes almost exactly a year after he crossed 400 million subscribers.
The achievement further extends his lead as the platform's most-subscribed creator and adds another record to his growing list of milestones.
The YouTuber later uploaded an image from the moment on his X account.
That live stream currently has 12 million views on the platform, with over 800K likes and 50K comments on YouTube.
MrBeast has continued setting new benchmarks for current and aspiring YouTube content creators, gaining 100 million subscribers in almost a year after reaching 400 million in June last year.
Part of the reason for MrBeast's sharp rise in subscriber count is his shift from YouTube content to high-production, high-budget videos, which are also dubbed into multiple languages to reach a more global audience.
MrBeast has now created his own brand, with businesses including Feastables - the chocolate brand, and Lunchly - a collaborative venture that offers lunch packages across educational institutions.
From 1M to 500M: The Four-Year Acceleration
Donaldson started as a passionate YouTuber, with his channel, MrBeast, gaining recognition for its unusual content ideas. He reached 1 million subscribers in 2017 and crossed 10 million just over a year later.
Over the years, his content evolved from interesting content-creation-based videos to high-quality, large-scale productions, such as recreating games from Squid Game in real life with contestants.
He has also previously rented entire venues, such as theme parks and stadiums, for challenges, while offering large cash prizes and real-estate-based rewards. In addition, he has hosted endurance challenges involving large crews and production teams.
His channel reached 100 million subscribers in July 2022, becoming only the second individual channel on YouTube to do so.
In just four years, he has added another 400 million subscribers, becoming the first creator on YouTube to cross the half-billion mark.
This achievement further extends his position as the platform's most-subscribed creator as he continues to set new benchmarks for others on YouTube.
