King President, Todd Green, shared a 2028 prediction for the growth of the industry, which contributed €5.89 billion in economic value (GVA) to the European economy.
"Mobile is now the most popular way to access and play games, bringing joy to hundreds of millions of people every day," Green said via Businesswire. "Europe has played an important role in that growth from the beginning. And today, the sector contributes billions to the economy each year - predicted to reach €6.2 billion by 2028."
A key growth factor can be attributed to the convenience and accessibility of a mobile phone. You can simply open it, look for a game on the specific game store, and download it to play.
This attracts all age ranges, from bored children to adults who need some time to relax. King's game Candy Crush is a prime example of how popular a cosy mobile game could get.
Mobile games account for an estimated 55% revenue for games worldwide. This isn't all. In Europe, they also help people by supporting over 63,000 jobs. It's a major industry, and one that's rapidly making an impact.
Mobile Gaming Earns the Most Revenue
Mobile gaming earns more revenue than traditional PC gaming. Pre Techrt, the global gaming market is projected to reach a revenue of $205 billion in 2026.
In 2024, mobile gaming revenue was roughly over $90 billion according to some estimates. This is nearly 50% of all gaming revenue, while PC gaming accounted for nearly 23% in 2024.
In 2026, the mobile gaming industry is projected to go over $107 billion in revenue, which makes sense considering the global gaming industry was valued at $343.22 billion in 2025, and over 3 billion users were playing games on their phones.
The industry is rapidly expanding, and new titles are coming up on mobile just as they are on other platforms. Smartphones are an especially popular option in countries where purchasing a high-end gaming setup proves to be difficult for the average gamer.
