Insider Gaming Report Suggests Titanfall's Spiritual Successor is in The Works

Titanfall 3 may not be in the works, but new pre-alpha footage suggests the Splitgate creator is building a spiritual successor to the Titanfall series.

1047 Games is developing Empulse, a movement-heavy shooter featuring giant mechs and wall-running, marking a significant attempt to revive the niche FPS genre.

The video footage mainly showcased Team Deathmatch gameplay. Players were able to pick up mechs scattered across different areas of the map.

The mechs had weapons such as a Gatling Gun and abilities like shields to protect themselves. Whether or not they'll have unique abilities is currently unknown.

For those unfamiliar, Titanfall lets players take control of Pilots who can command their own mechs, known as Titans. The FPS PvP action in the games is extremely fast-paced.

Developer Respawn Entertainment created two mainline games with Titanfall 1 and 2. Afterward, several attempts to revive the series were shut down due to internal reasons.

With Empulse, players of the Titanfall series may finally have some hope.

Splitgate Developers Reportedly Working on Titanfall-like FPS

Splitgate established 1047 Games as a developer capable of handling complex movement mechanics. Now, the same team is reportedly making a game inspired by Titanfall.

This idea was first echoed by 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx, who announced in March 2026 that the team was working on a movement shooter.

"I'm not here to share too much about that, but what I will say is that it's a movement shooter, and if you're a fan of games like Titanfall or Black Ops 3, we would love to hear from you," said Proulx.

The CEO also mentioned that the developers would begin sign-ups soon so people could playtest the game.

That being said, one could see Empulse as a blend of Splitgate, Black Ops 3, and Titanfall. This blend of mechanics targets fans of high-speed, vertical combat.

If Empulse prioritizes mech-based combat, Titanfall players may finally receive a strong replacement for the franchise.

However, the developers are far from finishing the game. There has been no official announcement regarding Empulse's release date or price.

Fans will soon see if Empulse can capture the same magic that made Titanfall a standout in the genre.
