God of War Creator David Jaffe Slams New Sons of Sparta Game

David Jaffe has delivered a highly critical assessment of the newly released 2D action-platforming game God of War: Sons of Sparta.
The creator of the God of War series took to X to express extreme dissatisfaction towards the franchise's latest entry, God of War: Sons of Sparta.
"I played a little over an hour of the new GOD OF WAR game, GOD OF WAR-Sons of Sparta! It's well made but genric and dull. It's also one of worst decisions the God of War team has ever made. It's very existence is super confusing. And offensive."
A big part of this was the change in how fans saw Kratos in the game. It wasn't the man bent on revenge against the gods. Nor was it the god learning to be a father after losing his wife. Instead, fans were greeted with a young version of Kratos that we saw in a few flashbacks throughout the series.
As per Game Director Zack Manko. "He doesn’t even know he’s a god. But that also means he has a very different relationship with the gods. He’s very devout. He has this faith that he leans on and turns to when things look darkest."
But that's what didn't sit right with Jaffe.
"[But] the idea of ‘aaand, we don’t want it to be the Kratos that you know and love from either 2018’s God of War, or the Greek trilogy God of War. F*** it, that character’s boring, no one likes that Kratos, that we’ve built billions of dollars franchises on. Let’s make him just some generic f****** kid… it makes no f****** sense."
Fortunately, the God of War Trilogy Remake Is In The Works
If one attempt fails, it doesn't mean all other attempts will fail too. Sons of Sparta might be facing backlash, but that hasn't stopped Santa Monica Studios from gearing up to remake the original God of War trilogy.
The LA-based game developers announced it in a unique way with Kratos' original voice, TC Carson, at Sony’s State of Play event, and the game will be called 'God of War Trilogy Remake.'
“This project is still very early in development, so we ask for your patience as it will be a while before anything else can be shared. When we can come back with an update, we aim to make it a big one!” said Santa Monica Studio's Lead Community Manager, Gracy Orlady, in a PlayStation Blog post.
