Empulse Shadow Drops Demo a Day Before Steam Next Fest

Empulse is finally here. Just a day before Steam Next Fest officially kicks off, a playable demo of the upcoming movement shooter is available on the platform. This gives fans an early chance to experience the game that has drawn constant comparisons to Titanfall.

With the Steam demo going live ahead of schedule, this ends weeks of anticipation. 1047 Games, the studio behind this, unveiled gameplay during the PC Gaming Show and confirmed a June 24 Early Access launch across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Empulse has been on the radar since reports earlier this year described it as a spiritual successor to Titanfall. Those comparisons have only intensified following official gameplay reveals.

The game features 6v6 multiplayer matches. But the main attraction is its affinity towards movement mechanics. From wall-running, grappling hooks, sliding, to jetpacks and Holojumps, you can do everything you want when it comes to movement and maneuverability. And all of these mechanics keep the momentum in highly vertical maps.

Unlike Titanfall, Empulse comes up with its own systems. Just like that, one of the biggest additions in P.A.I.N.T. With this map-altering mechanic, players can deploy different effects on surfaces. For example, Speed P.A.I.N.T. boosts movement, and Jump P.A.I.N.T. opens new traversal routes. Other variants offer healing, crowd control, and explosive utility.

Besides all of these, Empulse spawns powerful mechs as contested objectives in the matches. Not every player gets access to a mech; only two become available at a time. Early hands-on previews have praised the game's fast time-to-kill, skill-based movement, and vertical combat design.

Titanfall 3 seems to be absent from EA's plan. But with Empulse around the corner, it's been a treat for the fans of high-speed futuristic shooters.

How players can access the Empulse demo before Early Access

Players who want to try out Empulse before the actual launch can download the playable demo through Steam. And the download process is pretty straightforward:

  1. Visit the official Steam page of Empulse.
  2. Select the “Download EMPULSE Demo” option.
  3. Add it to your library.
  4. Once installed, the demo launches like any other Steam title.

It's going to be an easy install because the download size is approximately just 4.7GB. Players will need at least 8GB of RAM, DirectX 11 support, and a broadband internet connection.
