Dead by Daylight Dev Confirms There Are No Plans for a Sequel

Dead by Daylight had a perfect opportunity to bring its successor this year. 2026 marks a decade of the game's dominance in the survival horror genre. Instead, Behaviour Interactive has made it clear that there won't be any sequel at all.

In an interview with IGN at the Game Developer Conference, head of partnerships Mathieu Cote and creative director Dave Richard at Behaviour Interactive shut down all speculation about a potential Dead by Daylight 2.

This is what Richard said about the sequel:

"There’s always a point where we say, okay, we could do a sequel now, and it would be far easier actually to do a sequel with a blind slate than try to fix these issues that we have, for example. But it never makes sense for the fans. Never ever. They’ve invested time and money on DBD.”

Cote doubled down on that philosophy. As he sees it, when players load the game for the first time, all they want is to "feel like they’re playing a game that is current.” He also dismissed any possibility of DBD 2:

“We’re not going to do a DBD 2, that’s for sure. They’re not going to have to buy a DBD 2 and restart from scratch.”

The game is entering its 10th successful year, but Behaviour Interactive remains confident that it can keep Dead by Daylight modern. The developers are ensuring that the game is worth everyone's time, even after a decade, and that it feels like a current, actively supported title.

This is actally a commanding decision from the developers as well. When the industry trend is leaning towards short span of live-service titles and jumping into franchise rests, Behavior is looking at the bigger picture.

Dead By Daylight Unveils Upcoming Plans To Celebrate The 10th Anniversary

There might be no sequel to Dead by Daylight even after completing 10 years. However, that doesn't stop Behaviour from celebrating this milestone.

The studio has announced a one-day anniversary event set to take place at Montréal’s Old Port on June 14, 2026. From developer panels, exclusive reveals, to meet-and-greet sessions, and an interactive gaming station, this exclusive event will feature it all. Fans can also expect a special Year 10 Anniversary Broadcast alongside an art-focused mini-expo.

Alongside the event, a limited-edition collector’s set is also on the way. The bundle includes a detailed statue featuring The Huntress and Sable Ward, a functional flashlight replica, collectible pins, and art cards. Additional in-game rewards like Iridescent Shards and exclusive cosmetics round out the package.

Ten years in, Dead by Daylight continues to evolve without hitting the reset button. And if Behaviour Interactive sticks to its current vision, players can expect the game to be dragged “kicking and screaming” into its next decade without ever needing a sequel.
