Crimson Desert’s launch has already produced its share of unexpected moments. But one particular exploit quickly turned into something bigger than a simple bug.

Players discovered that they can chain the Aerial Stab ability in Crimson Desert mid-air. It allows them to dash, climb, and "fly" across a large part of the map.

However, it wasn't just a one-off glitch. It required some skill. Players had to launch into the air, trigger Aerial Stab, aim during the brief slow-motion window, and repeat the input quickly. Done right, it allowed near-continuous aerial movement. It didn’t feel like random attack. It felt like a hidden mechanic that players were actively learning and mastering.

This glitch became an instant hit. Players were exploring faster; traversal became more fun. However, some started exploiting it to bypass certain challenges and quests. That's why many expected Pearl Abyss to remove it soon.

That's where Pearl Abyss took a different approach. Instead of completely removing it, the studio kept the mechanic with some rebalancing in Patch 1.01.00. Aerial Stab now consumes increasing stamina with each consecutive use. Thus, players can't use it continuously to overexploit it.

That decision is what won fans over. The idea to make this a balanced mechanic instead of completely removing it is what stuck with the fans. This new mechanic still rewards skill but doesn't break progression anymore.

We have previously seen famous glitches being nerfed, despite getting love from the fans. For example, Bunny Hopping in Counter-Strike or Animation Cancelling in Devil May Cry—both were nerfed later.

But Pearl Abyss is different. And that's why Crimson Desert feels different as well.

Pearl Abyss stood by the fans' requests and understood how much they liked the glitch. So, it was quite evident that fans would be pretty impressed by the way developers turned this glitch into a mechanic:
