The lore of one of the most happening titles in a while, Crimson Desert, just keeps on getting better. The open-world action adventure game is on a roll as it has now sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

The game had reached the two million mark just one day after its launch on March 19 and doubled to four million copies within two weeks. The revenue from the four million copies was an estimated $200 million across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.

The number is now definitely much greater after two more weeks of sales. On Wednesday, April 15, Pearl Abyss, the developer of the game, put out an X post and celebrated the accolade of five million copies.

"#CrimsonDesert has sold through over 5 million copies worldwide!" the message read. "Thank you to every Greymane who has joined us on this journey, experienced the world of Pywel, and supported the game. Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without your support and we are truly grateful."

It is an astonishing achievement for Crimson Desert, considering it took less than a month for the game to surpass the five million mark. It now ranks eighth on Steam's global top seller list.

Let us see how the game's journey unfolded, from being a let-down in the early days after launch to selling 5 million copies.

Although the title was one of the most anticipated titles of the year, it didn't really fulfil its full potential at the time of its launch, with players complaining about control issues and the game not working on Intel-based systems.

But it looks like Pearl Abyss wasn't about to give up, bringing in constant patch updates to fix the problems. The rating on Steam went from "Mixed" in the first 2 weeks to "Very Positive" in the latter 2 weeks, with 82% positive reviews from over 130,000 total reviews.

American YouTuber Asmongold hailed Crimson Desert's achievement, saying:

"This is amazing. I'm not surprised. I actually think that Crimson Desert is such a good game right now. I think it is a phenomenal, amazing game."

Though he said he wouldn't call it a "perfect game," he ranked it above Dragon Dogma 2. According to SteamDB, the average player count for Crimson Desert is more than 100,000. The User Score on Metacritic is also proliferating, now being 8.8, coming under the "Generally Favorable" category.

With 5 million copies sold worldwide, Crimson Desert eyes a revenue estimate of about $400 million. Pearl Abyss looks to make future changes in its game with a community-driven stance.
