Crimson Desert on Nintendo Switch 2? Here’s What We Know

Developer Pearl Abyss's CEO has stated the studio's intention to bring its recent successful title, Crimson Desert, to Nintendo's Switch 2. One of the most anticipated titles of the year will come to Switch 2 to potentially break more sales records.
Crimson Desert was released on March 19 and brought plenty of buzz and sales along with it, while also recently crossing the 3 million mark in sales in just four days. One thing is clear: the vast open-world game is also gaining attention from Nintendo fans.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, CEO Heo Jin-Young stated, "Compared to other consoles, the Switch still has lower specifications, so there are things we would have to give up. Internally, we have begun R&D with interest."
With this next step towards making the game available to a new market segment, Pearl Abyss would need to substantially scale down the game's fidelity and gameplay features to make the title workable on Switch 2, as it is significantly less powerful than its competitors and has a slower CPU as well.
Also, making it compatible in handheld mode would be a tremendous task for the developers. While there is news about ongoing R&D for a Switch 2 port, let's discuss what the game's reviews have been so far.
Crimson Desert: A Beautiful yet Problematic Title
The Adventures of the Continent of Pywel has a "Very Positive" rating with over 90,000 reviews on Steam. It also falls in the "Generally Favorable" category with a Metascore of 78 and a Userscore of 8.7 via 8,700 users.
While getting positive reviews on platforms, Crimson Desert has faced issues regarding the controls, with players complaining that picking stuff up and talking to NPCs has been a struggle.
This is mainly happening due to the fact that the jump button also acts as a way to interact with NPCs and collect materials as well. Apart from the clunky controls, players on Intel-based systems have yet to explore Kliff's adventures, and Pearl Abyss is continuously working to make it accessible to Intel players.
So as Pearl Abyss tries to balance technical R&D with gameplay optimization to bring its acclaimed open-world title to Switch 2, it opens the potential to reach a new audience.
