Crimson Desert launched just days ago, but it's already left fans wondering how to even run the game on their systems! And it's affecting Intel's Arc, Lunar Lake, and a few more GPUs.
It's prompted developers Pearl Abyss to take drastic action.
Responding to an FAQ about the game’s support on Intel Arc, Pearl Abyss stated, “Crimson Desert currently does not support Intel Arc graphics cards. If you purchased the game expecting Intel Arc support, please refer to the refund policy of the platform where the game was purchased for available options. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
Intel’s representative expressed their disappointment for players with Intel GPUs being unable to enter the world of Pywell upon its launch. After all, the team has always looked forward to a partnership between the hardware makers and game developers to get things run smoothly on the customers’ systems.
“Over the past several years, we've reached out to Pearl Abyss many times to help test, validate, and optimize support for Intel graphics, providing early hardware, drivers, and engineering resources across multiple generations, including Alchemist, Battlemage, Meteor Lake, and Lunar Lake.”
Right now, Crimson Desert runs only on AMD and NVIDIA devices. And if you use Intel Arc, you can opt to get a refund for the game.
What's More Surprising Is That Devs Have Been Very Receptive to Feedback
Days before the game launch, the studio sent out review copies to YouTubers and reporters. And all of them had the same feedback: Pearl Abyss has been receptive to their opinions and had already begun working on it. They even had a Discord server to make the suggestions!
However, with the GPU issue, it looks like a massive disappointment. It reminded us of the botched Cyberpunk launch. And while Crimson Desert isn't nearly as buggy, when a major chunk of the playerbase can't access the game, it's pretty disappointing.
It hasn't slowed down the sales at all. On Steam, it has 239,045 concurrent players, behind long-time fan favorites Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2.
