Embark Studios will not be handing out monthly updates going forward. Instead, the studio has announced a shift to bigger and better updates twice a year for ARC Raiders.
The announcement has been made via a post shared on the official ARC Raiders X page.
"Going forward, we've made the decision to release major updates twice a year – larger in scale, more impactful, with the goal to genuinely change how you play the game," wrote executive producer Aleksander Grøndal in the update.
The reason for this shift was to allow the studio to make more time to improve the systems that players engage with the most, like the Rust Belt map.
However, the studio has assured players that a live service team will continue running ARC Raiders on a daily basis. The team would be responsible for rolling out regular live updates, fixing bugs including balance fixes, while also working on player events and store updates.
The studio also announced the plans for the future, including a Trader from a nomadic tribe of surface-dwellers coming next week.
The post reads, "The new Trader unlocks at level 25, and he offers unique rewards, rare items, and cosmetics in exchange for your high-value items."
The studio further stated, "It’s important to us that players understand something about where our collective ‘Embark brain’ is at: our ambitions go far beyond what players have seen so far. We want to go further in showing you the wider universe of ARC Raiders."
The studio has more in store for players, beyond these bi-yearly updates. In fact, the playerbase is looking forward to the biggest ARC Raiders update yet, which will land this October.
Biggest Update To ARC Raiders: Frozen Trail
The studio mentioned that the update isn't large in volume, but is instead "designed to address the broader questions the community has been asking."
Frozen Trail introduces a new landscape to the Rust Belt, featuring a layered design and new mysteries to uncover across the game's largest map.
The new update is also set to come with new ARC enemies, involving more designs and distinct behaviors. As per the studio, these new enemies will "challenge Raiders in new ways."
Frozen Trail will also bring with it a new system of progression. This inclusion has been done because many players have maxed out the Raider Den.
What makes this update unique is that it will unravel the ARC's origin. This will give the Raiders the opportunity to begin uncovering that mystery.
It will also feature an improved Skill Tree, along with new weapons, items, instruments, cosmetics, and more. The studio has called Frozen Trail "just the beginning of where we want to take ARC Raiders" and promised to share more details in the next few months.
With ARC Raiders shifting from monthly to two updates a year, they are now working to ensure the updates meet players' needs while also regularly fixing bugs and glitches.
