From the reveal of Unreal Engine 5 in 2020 to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in 2023 and 007: First Light in 2025, Summer Game Fest has delivered some of gaming's biggest announcements since its inception.

As the seventh edition kicked off on June 5, 2026, with Geoff Keighley once again hosting the event, let's look back at some of the festival's biggest reveals.

Summer Game Fest 2020

This was the very first edition of Summer Game Fest. One of the biggest announcements made during this event was the reveal of Epic's Unreal Engine 5.

The brand-new engine was revealed with a live tech demo titled "Lumen in the Land of Nanite," which ran smoothly on PlayStation 5. Thousands of games to come would later be designed on UE5 thanks to its advanced features.

Furthermore, the skateboarding game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 was also announced at SGF 2020. This was a remastered version of the original games.

Fans of classic games received Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. On the other hand, Star Wars: Squadrons was revealed as EA's brand-new space battle game from the acclaimed franchise.

Finally, on the indie front, Cuphead was launched at Summer Game Fest for the PlayStation 4, and it would go on to become a sensation among players.

Summer Game Fest 2021

2021 was a great year for gamers and for SGF. The biggest announcement made during the event was perhaps Elden Ring's release date. FromSoftware also gave fans a better look at its gameplay, combat, and characters.

Sony revealed the Director's Cut of Death Stranding during this event. Sifu was also announced during the State of Play section of SGF 2021.

FPS fans had a lot to look forward to thanks to Summer Game Fest 2021. Developers revealed new gameplay details about games such as Valorant, Escape from Tarkov, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Finally, new gameplay footage for Overwatch 2 was also revealed during this event.

Summer Game Fest 2022

During SGF 2022, Naughty Dog revealed The Last of Us Part I, a remake of the original with upgraded visuals and gameplay made for the PlayStation 5.

New gameplay footage was also shown from The Callisto Protocol. It was pitched as a spiritual successor to the popular Dead Space and took fans back into the space-horror survival realm.

For FPS fans, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was shown in full. New gameplay footage showed gamers a part of the campaign in great depth.

New characters were revealed for Street Fighter 6, and Fatshark finally revealed the release date of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

Summer Game Fest 2023

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando was revealed as one of the few big surprises at SGF 2023. The co-op zombie shooter by the well-known filmmaker was released in 2026.

The fest also revealed a release window for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which was a highly anticipated title.

Apart from this, gameplay footage from Alan Wake 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Lies of P was also unveiled at the event. A new trailer for Baldur's Gate 3 was also revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023.

Summer Game Fest 2024

This edition featured Lego Horizon Adventures, which turns the famous post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure into LEGO block-filled fun.

The game stayed true to the main character by featuring a LEGO version of Aloy, the protagonist of Horizon.

Batman: Arkham Shadow was also revealed during the event. This was a VR Batman game that featured the Rat King as one of its central villains.

In terms of franchise games, Civilization VII was finally revealed at SGF 2024 along with a new teaser trailer.

Finally, new gameplay footage from games such as Black Myth: Wukong and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was also shown at the 2024 edition of the event.

Summer Game Fest 2025

This was one of the most exciting editions of Summer Game Fest. In 2025, we got exciting reveals such as Resident Evil Requiem, 007: First Light, and Code Vein II.

A release date for Embark Studios' ARC Raiders was also revealed during the show, as well as new gameplay footage for titles such as Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Mafia: The Old Country.

Summer Game Fest 2026

Finally, the latest edition of SGF kicked off in June 2026.

CAPCOM continued its streak by revealing Resident Evil: Veronica. The game will serve as a remake of the original title and bring Claire Redfield back into the fray of things.

Apart from this, Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade Blood Rain, the sequel to the original title. It starts right after the end of the first game and gives us a new protagonist, Evie.

Twelve years after the original game, Alien Isolation 2 was also announced with a very short teaser trailer.

Franchises were plentiful at this event, as Attack on Titan 3 was revealed as the next mainline game in the series. It will take players through the manga's entire storyline, mimicking the anime in some form or shape.

Final Fantasy VII: Revelation was also announced, making it the third and final installment in the remake trilogy.

Apart from this, various new games were unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026, such as HAEX, SAW Genesis, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, and Gen ATLAS from the creators of Shadow of the Colossus.
